"And among them are men who hurt the Prophet (Muhammad sal-Allaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) and say: "He is (lending his) ear (to every news)." Say: "He listens to what is best for you; he believes in Allaah; has faith in the believers; and is a mercy to those of you who believe." But those who hurt Allaah's Messenger (Muhammad sal-Allaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) will have a painful torment." [At-Taubah (9):61]

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr:
Once the Prophet remained behind us in a journey. He joined us while we were performing ablution for the prayer which was over-due. We were just passing wet hands over our feet (and not washing them properly) so the Prophet addressed us in a loud voice and said twice or thrice: "Save your heels from the fire." [The Book of Knowledge Volume 1, Book 3, Hadeeth 57]
